What a great first week at school we have had!
All the Hedgehogs and Badgers have settled in so well and they are already learning their new daily routines.
The children all stayed for lunch today and we were really impressed by their independence. It was lovely to see so many clean plates and happy faces in the lunch hall.
This week we have been reading lots of stories about starting school. The children have also learnt all about The Colour Monster. A creature who changes colour depending on how he is feeling. We will use the colour monster to help the children identify and talk about the different emotions they feel.
Most of the children's time this week has been spent in 'Busy Time,' where the children choose what they would like to play with, both inside and outside. This has given the adults lots of time to get to know all the children in both classes.
Next week, we will be working with the children to complete our baseline assessments. This is done one to one with their class teacher through lots of fun, practical activities, which the children will really enjoy.
On Monday, your child will bring home their first 'Reading for Pleasure' book. This is a book for you to read to your child and talk about the pictures and characters in the book. Please write in the reading record every time you share this book with your child. Please aim to share the book at least three times a week.
