Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

This afternoon all the children in Hedgehogs and Badgers visited the church. The children walked very sensibly to and from church and they used their careful listening ears in the church as Mrs Chapman and Reverend Stuart spoke to the children about the building and the special artefacts within. The children then had some time to explore the church and search for the treasures it contains.
This week we have continued our phonics lessons and the children have been introduced to the letters i, n, m and d. They have also been practising blending these sounds together to read some words with the teacher. More information about phonics and supporting your child with their early reading will be given at the Expectations Meeting on Monday afternoon at 2.30pm in the school hall. Please come along if you are able.
In our maths lessons this week we have been matching objects which are the same and sorting objects into sets by colour, shape or use.
Next week we will be discussing our family and comparing our family to those of our peers. To support this, please send in a picture of your child with their family, as we would like to display these in the classroom. The photograph will encourage your child to talk about the members of their family with their peers and the familiar adults in school.
