Week 4 Overview
What a busy week it has been!
Yesterday the whole school walked to Church for our welcome service. We officially welcomed all the children back to school after the summer and the Hedgehogs and Badgers were welcomed into the school family.
Yesterday we also listened to a story about Boris the Robot. We then worked together make our own Boris the Robot. We remembered to give him a heart. The children will now have weekly lessons about Boris the Robot which will develop their personal and social development.
Daily phonics has continued, this week the children have been introduced to the letters: g, o, c & k. Some of the children are struggling to hear the initial sounds in words. To help them, play a game of I Spy with my Little Eye, try to use words beginning with the sounds the children have learnt so far (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k).
In our maths lessons this week we have continued to sort objects into different sets. We have also been comparing quantities, using the language, more, fewer and the same amount.
Next Thursday, 3rd October, we will be welcoming the Hedgehog parents into school for out first Stay & Play session of the school year. This is an opportunity to see some of the activities your child enjoys while at school and to play alongside them for an hour. Please arrive at 2pm at the main entrance. We will collect all our visitors and once down in the classroom, we will show you one of our dough disco sessions. You will then have some time with your child in the unit, before leaving at 3pm. You will be able to take your child with you when you leave. Any questions please just ask.
We are starting to collect autumn objects for display and activities in the classroom over the next few week. If you could go collecting at the weekend and send them in next week, that would be amazing.
Have a lovely weekend with your family!
