Stay & Play was so much fun!
Thank you to everyone who came along to the first Stay and Play session of the year. I hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did. It was so lovely to see them showing you around the unit and sharing our rules and routines. Please look out for more information coming soon about further opportunities to spend time in the classroom with your child.
This week we have continued with our daily phonics, introducing the children to the letters: e, u, r and the digraph ck. A digraph is two letters that make one sound, for example the ck at the end of the word sock.
In maths this week we have been comparing objects by size, length and weight. Please support your child to use the vocabulary big, little, large, small, long, longer, short, shorter, heavy, heavier, light and lighter, when comparing objects around your house. Today, we will read the book 'Dear Zoo' and the children will have to work out which animal will fit into which box to send them out in the post.
In PE this week, the children played a variety of games aimed at moving with control and identifying different body parts. Please remember to send your child to school in their PE kit every Tuesday. Also, if your child has long hair, please ensure this is tied up and all jewellery is removed.
Next week the children will learn all about their bodies and the different parts of their body, both on the outside and on the inside. See how many different parts of the body your child can name, can they locate them all?
Have a lovely weekend. I hope we see some sunshine!
