Children in Need and so much more!

Today has been so much fun in school. The children have loved being dressed up in yellow or wearing spots for the day. Thank you to everyone who brought in money for the Children in Need collection. We have talked about where some of the money will go and who will benefit from the collection. We have made Pudsey Bear headbands, with yellow ears and spots and the children have been colouring in and cutting out various Pudsey Bear pictures.

This week began with a visit from the school nursing team. They talked to the children about the importance of washing our hands and demonstrated how to clean them properly. The children sat beautifully and listened carefully throughout.

In Phonics this week we been learning the new phonemes: v, w, x and y. The children have been using these new sounds to read and spell regular words within their lessons and in their busy time.

In maths this week we have been learning about one more and less than numbers to 5. Yesterday, we created a bus in the classroom and I told a story about children getting on and off the bus at different locations. Each time we found out how many children were one the bus now, using our knowledge of one more and one less.

It was lovely to see so many of you in school yesterday for our Stay and Play session. The children certainly enjoyed showing you around and playing with you in the areas of provision. Our next session will be in January, date to follow.

This week we have begun to practise our nativity performance. This year it is called 'Wriggly Nativity.' We have cast the children in different roles and everyone will be taking part. Your child will come home with a letter today, this will let you know who your child is in the nativity and the costume requirements. School will be providing the majority of the costumes, but we need you to send some things to wear underneath. If anyone is having any difficulties with this please speak to your child's class teacher.

Next week we will begin our work on 'Well Known Tales.' We are starting with the story of The Three Little Pigs. We will be discussing the materials the pigs chose to build their houses and choosing which one we think will be the strongest. The children will be acting out the story and learning the pattern of a traditional tale.

As always if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Have a lovely weekend with your family.
