Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

Everyone in Badgers and Hedgehogs really enjoyed our fantastic Christmas disco this evening, after school. There was dancing, refreshments and party games with prizes. Everyone had a great time!

Last week, the children made Christmas tree decorations from lollipop sticks. These decorations then went to church to decorate our tree. If you are in the church over the Christmas period, please go and have a look at the children's creative decorations, the school trees look beautiful. 

Rehearsals for the nativity are in full swing. Please don't forget to send in your child's costume in a named carrier bag by this Friday (6th December). If anyone is having any difficulties, please just come and see us.

Last week, the children continued with their daily phonics sessions. They were introduced to the digraphs: sh for shell, th for thumb, ng, as in ring and nk, as in pink. This week is a revision week, in preparation for our phonics assessments next week. 

This week the children are working in groups to design and make a house for one of the three little pigs. The house needs to have 4 walls, a door and a roof and our toy pig must fit inside. At the end of the week, we will be huffing and puffing and testing the houses to see if they are strong enough.

We have three very busy and exciting weeks left at school before Christmas, with many special events, so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
