Science Week!

The children have loved celebrating National Science Week. We have completed many 'awe and wonder' experiments including coca cola and mentos and watching the 'explosion', pouring warm water over skittles and watching the rainbow form, and making our flappy fish move using air power. To finish off Science week, we had Mrs. Chapman's lamb come to visit! Mrs Chapman explained  the similarities and differences between us and the lamb- the children had some great ideas and enjoyed stroking and caring for our lamb, their behaviour was brilliant well done Badgers.

We have also discussed our new upcoming season and the children have learned the changes that will happen as we enter spring. Next week, we will be walking around the playgrounds looking out for signs of spring.

In Phonics this week, the children are continuing to revise Phase 3 sounds and apply these into longer words with more than one syllable.

In Maths, we have been looking at the composition of 10. Which two smaller numbers add together to make 10? This is something you could explore at home with everyday objects. Example: if I have 6 sweets, how many more will I need to have 10? (Encourage children to use fingers if they are unsure- they're a very useful tool when it comes to looking at the number 10!)

Just a few reminders for the next few weeks..

Next Tuesday (18th) and Thursday (20th) are Parents Consultation Meetings- please make sure you are aware of your time slot, slips went out in children's book bags.

Wed 26th March AM- The children will visit the Fire Station as part of our 'Around the Town' topic

Wed 26th March 2pm- Badgers Stay and Play. Our theme this time is 'Marvellous Maths'. It would be great to see you all.
